ideas are cultivated
The strongest ideas rarely arrive complete—they are cultivated through curiosity, collaboration, and refinement.
3 years tales from the pandemic
Transform a personal storytelling project into a community ecosystem by continually refining the idea through conversations with creators.
The 3 Years community began as a companion website for my graphic novel, designed to expand my own story through journal entries, music, and additional content. As I began sharing the project with other creators, those conversations revealed an opportunity to build something much larger. Instead of centering the platform on my own experience, I shifted the focus entirely to the creators, refining the community through their feedback, simplifying how people discovered stories, and expanding beyond a website into an ecosystem of creator spotlights, community town halls, and local retail partnerships.
university of washington
Collaborate with a subject matter expert to transform a training concept into an immersive, story-driven learning experience.
In planning meeting with an experienced subject matter expert, we discussed moving beyond traditional policy instruction by using storytelling to teach Child Care Services. She brought the original concept and the real-world expertise needed to make the experience authentic, while I applied storytelling techniques and adult learning principles to transform that vision into an engaging learning experience. Together, we refined the story through regular collaboration, developing fictional family members, chapter-based scenarios, and knowledge checks that helped learners connect policy with the lived experiences of the families they served. Once the concept had matured, we presented it together to leadership for approval.
mutual of enumclaw
Develop a tangible flipbook reference guide that helped experienced claims adjusters navigate a new software system without introducing another digital tool.
While developing training for Mutual of Enumclaw's new insurance software, I worked with training coordinators to understand the claims process and the information adjusters needed throughout each claim. Because the audience consisted of experienced claims adjusters already learning new software, I wanted to avoid introducing another online help system. Instead, I developed the concept of a desk-side flipbook and collaborated with the in-house print shop to refine its design and production. The final layered guide allowed adjusters to quickly navigate claim types using step-by-step instructions, software screenshots, and practical tips.
student, communication leadership masters program
Collaborate with a student production team to develop a chef’s-table-inspired commercial for a Seattle food manufacturer.
As a student in the Communication Leadership Master’s Program, I worked with my team to develop a chef’s-table-inspired commercial for Cucina Fresca, a Seattle food manufacturer. We refined the initial concept into a three-act story that introduced the chef and owner, followed the fresh ingredients and just-in-time production process through the facility, and concluded with the finished product in the chef’s home. The concept continued to evolve through storyboarding, lighting decisions, filming, and editing, with each stage helping the team refine the story beyond its original vision.
